Thad attended Dover schools, and earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of New Hampshire in Durham. He currently leads a non-profit organization and has developed connections within Dover, particularly among educators and professionals in youth-serving agencies. These collaborations resulted in the acquisition of school space for programming and events; the acquisition of classroom space at the adult learning center; maintaining a resource-sharing arrangement with the police department; developing activities that utilize resources and engage the leadership of UNH Cooperative Extension and supported the growth of citywide “Kids Cabinet.”. Thad is mindful of an organization’s appearance to the community and to its partners, and strives to ensure that programs do not appear to be competing with other each other, but rather complementing each other.
Thad is currently the Director of Family Services with the Dover Housing Authority. Developing programs is one of his primary responsibilities at the Seymour Osman Community Center (SOCC), Youth Safe Haven and at Woodman Park School. In this capacity he wrote grant proposals and concept papers outlining proposed partnerships between HOPE International and potential funders. He also initiated contact with major donors to create institutional partnerships. While in College Thad wrote a concept paper detailing an innovative mentoring program that would match UNH student-athletes with area at-risk youth.
Thad has C-4 quadriplegia and his personal experiences make him an effective presenter for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) as well. He takes great joy in discussing service dogs with groups ranging from school children to foundation boards, and is proud that those presentations result in funds raised and volunteers recruited to support CCI’s mission. Thad feels that like CCI, Granite State Independent Living has played a vital role in allowing him to live independently.
