Please Join GSIL in Celebrating 30 Years of Progress in the Disability Community

On September 23, 2010 GSIL will celebrate 30 years of progress in the disability commu¬nity with an event at the Radisson Hotel Armory, Manchester. The event begins with networking at 5:30 p.m., followed by a sit-down dinner at 6:30 p.m., remarks at 7:30 p.m. and entertainment by local award-winning comedian Chuck Bittner and nationally known comedian Brett Leake at 8 p.m.

During the event, CEO Clyde E. Terry will present three awards. Senator Jeanne Shaheen will receive the 2010 Independence Award, Donald Shumway will receive the 2010 David B. Robar Advocacy Award and the USDA Office of Rural Development will receive the 2010 GSIL Partnership Award.

The event coincides with the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and is expected to draw hundreds of individuals involved in the disability community. Tickets are $50 per person. For current GSIL consumers, tickets are $25.

Over the past three decades, GSIL’s work has realized high impact results, but GSIL was not in this fight alone. The efforts of many passionate people and resourceful organizations greatly benefited the disability community and GSIL is proud to have been part of this movement.

Thirty years of progress was driven by the principles of the independent living movement; a movement that demanded a cultural shift so that everyone has opportunity to live a life they choose. Today GSIL embodies a mission and vision that everyone should be able to achieve and not be discriminated against. Through supports provided through pro¬grams in eight locations through¬out the state, every single person is able to live a full life in New Hampshire and enjoy the America Dream. Please join us at this impor¬tant event.
