Transportation Services
For nearly 30 years, Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) has provided accessible transportation to people with disabilities throughout the State of New Hampshire to help them fully participate in their lives and their communities.
Transportation Service Options
GSIL offers several transportation options to eligible people with disabilities:
Wheelchair-accessible transportation: People who need wheelchair-accessible transportation can request door-to-door, on-demand service when public transportation is not available. Granite State Independent Living operates its own fleet of accessible vehicles and maintains relationships with numerous other accessible transportation providers throughout the state which subcontract rides when appropriate. By involving more resources, we are able to find innovative transportation solutions to meet your needs.
This fee-for-service is available for individuals and organizations at a rate of $1.75 per mile and $20 per hour. Financial assistance, including fully funded rides, is available to those who qualify.
Transportation Reimbursement Program (TRP): People who are unable to drive or maintain a driver’s license due to their disability, do not own a motor vehicle and who require financial assistance, can use Granite State Independent Living’s Transportation Reimbursement Program (TRP). If you qualify for this program and secure pre-approval, you can plan your own recreational, social or errand-related trip and find your own driver and we will reimburse your mileage or the cost of your bus fare for in-state destinations.
After receiving properly submitted receipt/forms for a ride, Granite State Independent Living will send you a check for the number of miles traveled multiplied by the current reimbursement rate of $.425. For example, if your pre-approved trip was 100 miles, we would send you a check for $42.50 (100 miles X $.425 = $42.50).
We also reimburse for single and monthly bus tickets for those complying with the requirements of the program.

Our transportation coordinators can assist you in finding a ride or securing reimbursement for almost any purpose, including:
• Social and recreational events
• Meetings
• Education
• Errands
• Other eligible activities
Planning considerations
We will process all requests for transportation services to the best
of our ability, but please give as much notice as possible when you need rides or allocation of TRP funds. When attempting to fulfill your request, we will consider trip origin, destination, distance, duration and other factors in order to deliver the most practical, convenient and cost-effective method of transportation. The more notice we have, the better we will be able to serve you.

Granite State Independent Living is actively working on a number of different levels to increase the availability of public and private accessible transportation options throughout New Hampshire.
